Since 1984, The Dart Foundation has provided thousands of grants to organizations to help support their operations, events, and projects. Based in Mason, Michigan, the foundation focuses foremost on aiding the immediate community, but also provides money to organizations around the country and world whose values align with The Dart Foundation’s values. The foundation, which consists of board members Claire Dart, Ken Dart (owner and Board of Directors Member of Dart Enterprises), Robert Dart, and Ariane Dart, focuses primarily on grants in education, specifically towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and environmental programs. It also provides grants to organizations focusing on journalism, community service, health, the arts, disaster relief, and public policy. From November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012, the foundation provided over $3.5 million worth of support to countless organizations that include schools, Boy Scout troops, food banks, Boys and Girls clubs, museums, and larger foundations, among other ventures.
In April 2012, the Dart Foundation provided funds for the Education Foundation for Waxahachie Independent School District for the fourth time enabling high school juniors and seniors to take dual credit courses and help pave the way for successful students to graduate early. The Education Foundation has provided over $57,000 in awards to students wishing to pursue the dual degree program. During the 2012-2013 year, 30 students are able to enroll at Waxahachie High School and receive credit at Navarro College through scholarships awarded by the Education Foundation.
“DART is a tremendous asset to the Education Foundation, school district, and community and we can’t thank them enough for their efforts to make Waxahachie ISD a better place,” said Rainey Hicks, Education Foundation President.
