Wanderfly raises $1M for a new way to flyMarch 27, 2012 No Comments
Do you remember when you had a travel agent helping you plan and book vacations at the lowest possible rates? Today, travel agents are few and far between. Now, in hopes of finding the cheapest vacation prices, most people use popular booking engines, Kayak, Orbitz, or Expedia to find and book flights on their own. So what happened to all the travel agents? Well, travel agents haven’t gone away. In fact, many people still use travel agents to help plan vacations. However, instead of using a travel agent to get the best prices, travel agents are looking for an “experience.” Speaking with a travel agent is a much better experience than dealing with sterile computer screens and working with poorly-educated customer service representatives.
Wanderfly, is a new innovative travel website that attempts to be combined personal attention and usability. The website’s use of pictures immediately draws you into the website and has you daydreaming about your next adventure. The vacation results are based off of your personal travel recommendations and also links to your social network.
“An intelligent travel recommendation search engine,” raised $1 million in new funding from Charles River Ventures, Jason Calacanis, StartupAngel, James Bailey, Roger Dickey and other angel investors.
