When the going gets tough the tough get going
September 17, 2010 No CommentsIt is easy to stop supporting charitable organizations when times get tough. The economy is slow and generating enough revenue to keep the own business running has been and is a struggle for many. Entrepreneurial views and ideas are necessary to balance the success of the business while at the same time providing support for people in need. Small businesses such as the IT firm Amnet as well as the moving company Gentle Giant have found creative ways to do just that.
They have realized that non-profits are not only in need of financial donations but that they also need different kinds and resources of support. With the assistance of the non-profit Partners in Health, Gentle Giant used the time that was unoccupied due to small number of contracts in order to collect two trucks full of medical supplies for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Amnet combined the dollars spent on client golf outings and giving donations to organizing a charity annual golf tournament. Efforts as these sound simple on paper but it is the thought and the effort that mattered to still look outside the box even when times were tough. Due to their charitable efforts both companies were able to boost employee moral by giving them an opportunity to focus their efforts to helping others as well as network and get their name known where they might not have looked before.
